We’re thrilled to share that MA in Children’s Literature graduate student Caroline Kim has been awarded the Warren W. Hobbie Ethics and Service Endowment Fund at Hollins University! The purpose of the Hobbie Endowment is to provide Hollins students with a program of experiential or servicelearning opportunities which requires students to confront values or ethical issues.
Awards generally range from $500 to $700, with a maximum of $1000. The amount awarded depends on the total number of qualified applicants. Applicants are encouraged to detail the full amount needed for the project.
Caroline wrote about "Authentic Korean American Representation in Children's Books." The purpose was to take the next practical step of sharing her stories by attending the SCBWI Winter Conference and meeting industry professionals, which the fund will now help her do! CONGRATULATIONS Caroline!
I had the joy of having Caroline in my Writing Seminar this summer. Richly deserved, and congratulations!
